These files (1704-present)contain material that relates to the patron of the Order, Christopher Columbus, Columbus Day celebrations, the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 and the Quincentennial Celebration in 1992. An over 400 volume library of Columbus-related material is also maintained.
Material in this collection includes this pamphlet prepared by the San Salvador Council for those attending the unveiling of the Columbus Memorial in Washington D.C., June 8, 1912 and the book Columbus and his Predecessors dedicated to the Knights “who have shown a great practical interest in American history” by its author Charles H. McCarthy, and issued in a souvenir edition for the Columbus Memorial unveiling.
