Antonella Cappuccio

Antonella Cappuccio

Antonella Cappuccio was born in Ischia on February 21, 1944. As a young child she moved to Rome with her family, and still lives and works there. Married Luigi Muccino, she gave birth to three children, all of whom work in the field of cinema.

While still very young, she completed studies at the Academy of Costumes in Rome. She then worked in cinema, and later for RAI-TV, as a costume designer.

Beginning in the 1970s, she embraced art as her full-time career, a choice that was marked with inherent difficulties.

She began her first personal exhibits in 1976, prepared an extremely important exhibit in 2002 in the Museum of Castel Sant’Angelo, and in 2007 held her most recent showing, “Giochi d’Arte,” in Palazzo Venezia, Rome.

Over more than thirty years of activity, Cappuccio has produced works for such institutions as the Arma dei Carabinieri – Italian Military Corps; for the Catholic Church (many of her works are in the Vatican); for the Italian State, and for collectors in Italy and abroad.

She was invested with the title “Cavaliere del Lavoro” and “Commendatore of the Italian Republic.” Recently she was nominated as a member of the Pontificia Insigne Accademia di Belle Arti e Lettere dei Virtuosi al Pantheon, a pontifical academy.

Between 2003 and 2004 she completed a large painting on a single 270-square-meter canvas, entitled “Pagan Rome, Christian Rome,” for the new Mariott Hotel in Rome.
