Sept. 14, 2005 — May 14, 2006
The exhibit presented a series of 32 gouache “Shrine” paintings based on the life of Christ. Artist Mary Billingsley strives to present to pilgrims in the modern world the beauty of salvation history through everyday objects, and to share these visual delights with her audience.
Each work began with the gathering of significant objects for a three-dimensional still life or shrine setting. Then a full-scale painting was developed and completed, inspired by quiet reflection over pertinent passages in Scripture.
