From Hartford and Points North
Take I-91 south to Exit 1, which is Route 34. Merge right as soon as you get onto Route 34 and take Exit 1 At the bottom of the ramp proceed through  the center lane past a traffic island onto South Orange Street. Take the next right onto George Street, and then next right onto State Street. Bear all the way to your left and the museum garage entrance will be 200 feet up on the left.

From New York and Points West

Rail Service

Amtrak and Metro-North operate through New Haven's Union Station, which is a 10-minute walk to the museum and a short drive to downtown New Haven. Amtrak travels through New Haven several times a day from locations between Washington, D.C., and Boston. Metro-North Railroad provides flexible , inexpensive transportation between New Haven and Manhattan at least every hour. From Union Street Train Station

Walking
Start out going northeast on Union Avenue, U.S. 1, toward Meadow Street.  Proceed three blocks (about one-half mile) up to the intersection of State Street, North Frontage Road and Water Street. You will be facing the museum on State Street. The entrance is about 100 feet straight ahead.  It is about a 10-minute walk from the rail station to museum.

Driving
Start out going northeast on Union Avenue going under connector overpass to corner of Water Street and Union Avenue. Proceed through the intersection onto State Street (going north).  Take the second left onto Crown Street. At the stop sign take a left onto State Street (going south). At the stoplight proceed straight at flagpoles in front of the museum, slow down and take a left into the museum driveway, approximately 150 feet past the flagpoles.
